Recipe: Frozen Banana Hot Cocoa
This recipe for frozen banana hot cocoa is a kick that will leave your taste buds surprised and happy. Once your spirits have been revived, there will be enough left over for a friend. That is, if you choose to share.
Frozen Banana Hot Cocoa
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 1/2 cups almond or soy milk (add a bit more or less to taste to adjust thickness)
- 1/8 tsp cayenne
- 2 Tbsp unsweetened cacao powder
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/3 cup ice (or more frozen banana or frozen watermelon)
- 1/2 fresh banana, sliced
- 4 Tbsp non-dairy whipped cream
- Optional boosts:
- Blend in a tablespoon of hemp seeds or protein powder
- 1 Tbsp almond butter for a nutty spin!
- 2 tsp raw cacao nibs for a rich dark chocolate flavor
- Sprinkle warm skillet-toasted pecans on top to serve
- Want more decadence? substitute 1 frozen banana with a big scoop of vegan vanilla coconut milk ice cream
Instructions:
- Add the non-dairy milk, cocoa, cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne and optional boosts to blender, blend until smooth.
- Add the 2 frozen bananas and ice to blender. Blend until frosty smooth.
- Pour into serving glasses and top each glass with sliced banana and non-dairy whip. Serve with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.
- Use freshly ground cinnamon and nutmeg for extra-amazing flavor!
