GROW Month Recap

September marks the end of Organics Unlimited’s 3rd annual GROW month-and it sure was a busy one! With events in Seattle and San Diego, we were able to educate thousands about organic bananas and our GROW fund.

At the beginning of the month, we ventured to Issaquah, Seattle to PCC Natural Markets for their Healthy Living Fair. Armed with banana samples and giveaways, hundreds of PCC visitors got a chance to learn about GROW.

We then attended a movie screening at the historic La Paloma Theatre in downtown Encinitas. Sponsored by Jimbo’s Naturally, the screening featured the movie “Fresh,” a documentary on the benefits of eating organic and sustainable foods. 245 movie-goers were able to learn about our GROW program.

GROW played a part in the San Diego Aids Walk as more than 5,000 participants were able to snack on a GROW banana after completing the course. Participants were also able to pick up GROW recipe cards, which included recipes like banana “ice cream” and healthy banana cookies.

Thanks to Jimbo’s Naturally and PCC Natural Markets for being so involved in GROW month!

GROW Month

Welcome to GROW Month. Every September, we at Organics Unlimited take some special time to let everyone know more about the work that GROW is doing in Mexico and Ecuador. And as the program expands, we also try to let the people who enjoy our delicious bananas know more about the good they are doing through GROW.

To help our retailers, we have developed new point of purchase materials that are available for download on our website. One of our favorites is shown here.

And look for special GROW appearances throughout the month of September. At Ashland Food Cooperative in Ashland, OR, you’ll find banana bread made with GROW bananas throughout the month. At PCC Natural Markets in Issaquah, WA we’ll be giving out free samples on Saturday and Sunday, September 11 and 12. Plus we’ll have some great ideas for recipes made with fresh GROW bananas.

Later in the month, we’re planning some interesting things in San Diego – so stay tuned! And don’t forget the fresh GROW bananas for Labor Day.
