Banana Walnut Bread for Tea Time

This delicious banana walnut bread is a great complement to go with your favorite hot cup of tea or coffee.  Made with sour cream, its unique flavor will amplify any tea time or get your day started off right coupled with your morning cup of Joe.

Banana Walnut Bread

Makes 1 Loaf

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup bananas mashed- usually 3
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts -(Toast walnuts first about 15 minutes at 350 then chop them when they have cooled)

Instructions

  1. Grease and flour a 3 x 71/2 inch loaf pan and preheat oven to 350° F
  2. Cream butter and sugar, and then beat in eggs one at a time. Add sour cream, mashed bananas and vanilla
  3. Sift dry ingredients to blend well and then add to creamed mixture. Mix only to blend ingredients.  Stir in walnuts by hand till blended
  4. Bake for about 45-50 minutes at 350 until cake tester comes out clean
  5. Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then place on a cooling rack
