Recipe Chocolate-Dipped Frozen Bananas

Today is National Something on a Stick Day, and what better way to celebrate the “holiday” than to create Chocolate-Dipped Frozen Bananas. These are the perfect snack for your kids when they come home after school or a fun activity to make together.

Chocolate-Dipped Frozen Bananas

Makes 8

Ingredients

  • 8 organic bananas, peeled
  • 8 wooden sticks or skewers
  • 32 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped or chips
  • 1/3 cup chopped salted peanuts, sprinkles, granola, crushed cookies, toasted coconut or any desired topping

Instructions

  1. Line wax paper in a sheet pan
  2. Cut 1-inch off the end of each banana and insert a wooden skewer or stick into the cut-end of each banana, pushing the stick halfway in, leaving the other end exposed for use as a handle
  3. Place the bananas on the sheet pan and freeze 1 hour
  4. Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over (not in) a pan of gently simmering water. Stir just until melted
  5. Handling one banana at a time, dip it in the chocolate until it is completely covered
  6. On a flat dish covered in your choice of topping, roll the dipped banana, transfer to the sheet pan, and return to the freezer; you may sprinkle your topping on the banana if you desire
  7. Once frozen, store the bananas in an airtight container
  8. Enjoy!
