Recipe: Guava Banana Salad

Begin the new year with a new you! Try this healthy guava banana salad as a way to counteract all of the heavy food you ingested over the holidays. Start 2013 off right and enjoy this fresh, tasty salad.

Guava Banana Salad
Serves 1-2

  • 2 medium sized guavas
  • 1 banana
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar/ jaggery/ honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  1. Chop guava into desired size blocks  (can de-seed the guava before if you wish)
  2. Add salt, sugar, a dash of lemon juice and mix well
  3. Toss in chopped bananas and mix gently
  4. Garnish with coriander or basil
  5. Eat as soon as possible or refrigerate before serving. The salad stays fresh as its seasoning (guava salad dressing) acts as a preservative.

Wandering Mist also suggests adding more ingredients if you like ranging from other fruits, pepper, chat masala, mint, jaggery, honey, nuts, etc.
