Recipe Baked Banana Tempura

Put on a show for your significant other this Valentine’s Day and whip up a special batch of Baked Banana Tempura. This savory and sweet recipe will prove you have more creative prowess in the kitchen than just the ordinary cakes and cookies. They are easy to make and can be thrown together in no time. These little treats are just what the love doctor ordered.

Baked Banana Tempura

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 small to medium size bananas
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • Ground cinnamon for dusting
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground flax meal
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Lightly oil a baking sheet
  2. Combine batter ingredients in a bowl and blend well with a whisk and set aside
  3. Place bread crumbs in a bowl or plate and set near the batter bowl and baking sheet
  4. Peel and cut the bananas crosswise into 3/4″ slices. Give the batter a quick stir and then place a banana slice into the batter, coating well
  5. Then place the banana slices into the bread crumbs, making sure it’s totally covered
  6. Place on prepared baking sheet. Repeat with each banana slice
  7. Bake for 4 minutes, flip over and bake another 4 minutes
  8. Arrange on a serving dish and dust with cinnamon and serve immediately
