Organics Unlimited Availability Not Affected by Recent Hurricanes

Despite the massive hurricanes Ingrid and Manuel that hit Mexico from both the East and the West in September, we were able to see the storms through, managing to lose minimal crops.

A lot of farm land and homes in the banana growing regions were damaged. While some of growers had significant losses, the Organics Unlimited farms survived the storm well. This ability to withstand the heavy tropical rains was due in big part to the sustainability process of providing good drainage in the fields. We do not anticipate crop damage causing any problems with availability.

Homes of a few of the Organics Unlimited workers were unfortunately destroyed, but in support of the disaster, the Fair Trade committee voted on giving funds to help get these workers back on their feet and in new homes.
