Increase Awareness of Bananas to Parents and Young Children

Week of the Young Children Banana Marketing

April 14-20, 2013 is National Week of the Young Child, an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to increase awareness of the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. Celebrate the Week of the Young Child and raise awareness of the GROW program and healthy lifestyles.

GROW, by Organics Unlimited, works with various nonprofit organizations in the banana growing regions of Mexico and Ecuador to help workers and their families. Bananas are one of the first foods you give to your children who often grow to enjoy them throughout their lifetime. We recognize the Week of Young Child, and what better way to celebrate than with a banana?

Bananas are easy to mash up and the perfect adult food to introduce to infants as young as six months old. Not only are families taking advantage of a wonderful fruit to provide to their children, but they are giving back to those in need of programs and services that are funded by GROW; many children in Mexico and Ecuador have received health and education benefits because of these bananas bought in the U.S.

Increase awareness to parents and customers of GROW and stress the importance of the programs and opportunities they provide. Also, make mention of the fact that bananas can maintain healthy growth in children, and you’ll see an increase in sales, especially with the summer quickly approaching.

Bananas make for a great energy-booster for kids who are entering sports. The natural ingredients are terrific for kids to re-energize and maintain healthy eating habits. They are also a fantastic fruit to include in many fun recipes, such as frozen banana popsicles.
