Get Involved with your Community and Become a Leader

Become Involved with your Community

Be more than just your friendly neighborhood grocery store. Get involved with your community and learn about who you are serving on a more personal level. By taking an active part in causes that benefit your community you will give your customers a sense that you are looking out for their well-being.

Donating a few days out of the year to participate in positive, life-changing events will make an impact on your community and set you apart from other retailers.

Here’s an example: Over the last few years, GROW has partnered with retailer Jimbo’s…Naturally by donating GROW bananas to help sponsor the San Diego AIDs Run/Walk. Jimbo’s donated their time and money and shared their mission of providing the highest quality organic and natural foods. Not only did Jimbo’s gain a hefty exposure in a short amount of time, but they also reached out to potential customers who may have never heard of their stores.

There are many different types of philanthropic activities you can be involved:

  • Blood drives are great because people will need sustenance after donations; bananas especially
  • Put a bulletin board up in your store and allow your customers to promote their causes just so you know how and when you can help

By partaking in these types of events, you’ll not only feel rewarded by giving back, but this will help increase awareness of your store and all of the attendees will begin to see you as a leader in community.

Be sure to mark on your calendar that September is GROW Month. One banana can make a difference in many lives.
