Recipe: Banana Whole Wheat Wrap

Banana Wheat Wrap

Looking for a nutritious, energy-boosting recipe? This healthy snack makes for a delicious breakfast wrap or afternoon lunch. Great for kids and adults alike, banana wheat wraps are an excellent alternative to sugar-rich commercial snacks and a fun substitute for regular sandwiches. Try whipping up this nourishing treat for you or your little ones.

  • 1 banana
  • 1 large, whole wheat tortilla
  • 2 teaspoons peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Chopped nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and/or dried fruit

Makes 1 banana wrap

  1. Smoothly spread peanut butter over wheat tortilla
  2. Drizzle honey on top
  3. Peel banana and place in center of tortilla
  4. Sprinkle the rest of the wrap with chopped nuts, seeds and/or dried fruit mixture, leaving a small, ¼ inch plain border towards the edge
  5. Roll the wrap up around the banana (the wrap’s plain borders will “glue” together, sealing it)
  6. Cut the roll into slices about ½ inch thick
  7. Moisten the cut surfaces of the banana with lemonade or diluted lemon juice to prevent browning
