The Brightest and the Best

Patricia Aguirre Caliz and Cristobal Castrejon Agapito are two of eight students that have earned the trip of a lifetime!  Based on excellent grades, citizenship and attitudes in their scholarship program funded by GROW, these students were chosen by the Project Amigo board to further their studies during a month-long visit to the U.S.  Both Patricia and Cristobal are changing their families' fates.  Prior to GROW's presence, their futures looked bleak; with a lack of proper education, years of poverty and the never-ending uncertainty of when the next workday would be. 

Partnered with Project Amigo, GROW has implemented numerous programs including homework clubs, incentive programs and life-skills learning such as the importance of oral hygiene. 

GROW was founded by Organics Unlimited to bring hope to an otherwise destitute situation.  Funds from the purchase of GROW bananas in the U.S. support social programs in the growing areas.  By sharing personal experiences with their peers, these students will now be able to help end the poverty that has plagued this community through prior generations.
