Organics Unlimited Expands with New Facility in Mexico - February 2007
Organics Unlimited has expanded operations with a new warehouse and office in Mexico. The 33,000 square foot facility is a central logistics hub for coordinating packaging and shipping of the company's organic bananas and other organic tropical fruit.
"We have very high standards, not only for our organic growing practices, but also for getting fruit to our customers efficiently. As production and demand grow, our new facility allows us to continue to provide high quality fruit that is fresh and delicious," says Mayra Velazquez de Leon, CEO Organics Unlimited.
Organics Unlimited, says Velazquez de Leon, has a unique perspective on organic growing, sustainability and providing a fair wage for workers who grow the company's produce.
"I grew up in Mexico as the daughter of the first organic banana grower, working in my family's business. Sustainability has always been one of our core beliefs, both in my family's growing and in what we do with Organics Unlimited," she says. In 2004, Organics Unlimited established the GROW Foundation (Giving Resources and Opportunities to Workers) to benefit the growers and their families in the growing areas of Mexico.
Organics Unlimited is a San Diego based distributor of organic tropical fruits from Mexico and South America.
